WIP: Lizard Ridge Blanket, originally uploaded by lallennh.
Who can resist the lush spectrum of this blanket from Knitty.com? I was swept away by the beautiful photo illustration and knew I had to try my hand at those jeweled squares. My interpretation is knit in mercerized cotton, which holds dye with lustrous intensity. So far I’ve found satisfying colors by Millefili fine and Saucy Sport by Reynolds Yarns. The original was made up with variegated Kureyon wool dyed in different color-ways.
The digital camera is on its way home via FedEx, so I’ll be able to post progress with more ease over the weekend. I’m looking forward to the immediate gratification of shoot, review, and blog!

The squares knit up quickly – nice and easy for travel, if you’re looking for a totable project. Because I’m not using the Noro, I have to change colors ‘manually’ after each ‘ridge’. If you used a yarn dyed with color runs as long as Noro, this would not be necessary. … Something to consider.
I love the colors, too. I want to make the Lizard Ridge afghan in a wool or wool blend yarn similar to but not as scratchy as Noro. Any suggestions? Also am wondwring about how many hours to do a square (knowing, of course, that my mileaga may vary)?
It’s looking very pretty ~ the colours are gorgeous! I’m looking forward to seeing your progress. ♥
