Sunday Obsession

aran island mitten progress

Mitten status as of Sunday evening. Yes, I spent as much time as I could knitting today. Even got up extra early to pass some time with this work-in-progress. The grey skies foretelling of our first winter storm made it an especially appealing day for sipping tea and knitting.

My ‘set-up’: enlarged photocopy of pattern chart on lap desk and a pen handy for checking off each row as it’s completed. It’s a precarious arrangement and vulnerable to the disruption of Tiny Tigress’s occasional footsteps. After ripping out several first attempts, I finally got the stitch count down and was able to progress beyond the cuff. Also, the Tree of Life pattern instructions of the palm of the mitten seemed to be missing something, so I went to the bookstore last night and did some stitch research. Indeed, the use of a cable needle had been omitted from the instructions – an easy fix.

Alas, I didn’t win the Kodak EasyShare printer contest.  BitterSweet announced the winner this evening. You can take a look at all of the entries, including the winner’s stunning macros of a Bird of Paradise blossom. BitterSweet certainly had a challenging task of determining the winner!

Winter weather is spitting against the windows and the hour is late. Wishing you a good week!

If I could knit like this, I would quit my job and sit in a chair and never get up! These are absolutely stunning. Me, I am looking at my sad little scarves from last winter that sit unfinished in the little knitting bag. AFter the holidays!
