Hot off the Sewing Machine

pocket book side view

I am so happy to have finished this gift project. The colors are just right for the approaching summer season. The front is made with a Susan Sargent remnant and the back is a collage of luscious scraps rescued from a friend’s pillow project waste pile. And in case you can’t see it in these photos, the handles are made from Laurel Birch happy dog-print fabric.

Here’s my freeform quilting on the back, in keeping with a lush pink theme.

A total of seven different fabric panels are used, including a 4-fabrics pocketed interior in complementary prints. The front and back panels and handbag straps are padded with cotton/poly quilt batting.

Oh, Lisa, I wish I were the recipient! Ok, you have got to show me how to do this quilting thing. I can’t wait to go out and find the yummy fabrics. Hasta luego, my multitalented amiga.
