Holiday Project: Handknit Dish Cloths

I am the proud mother of a 21-year-old son who plays Santa every year by making me a Christmas stocking, complete with our family tradition of a fresh navel orange in the toe! This year, a happy bundle of magazine bliss was sticking out of the top: the January ’07 issue of Creative Knitting magazine. Before the day was done, I’d decided upon my next project: a pair of handknit cotton dish cloths.

Knit Dish Towels

It’s been a while since I’ve worked with cotton and the two-color textured stitch appealed to my sense of knitting adventure. I was on the doorstep of Ewe’ll Love It! the next morning, and after the predictable indecision that comes with color-commitment dilemma, four balls of Tahki’s “Cotton Classic”, two in their Tweedy version, were chosen and paid for. The cloths knit up quickly. knit towels CLOSE edtdAnd I extended the pattern’s decision from 8″ long to 15″.  All in all, a nice little project.
