Welcome to my kitchen. These clementines are the sweetest I can recall — ever. And together, the happy tumble of fruit, the hand carved bowl brought back from Brazil during another lifetime, and one of my painted tabletops, just tickled me. There was no patience for the Nikon D40 and requisite download, upload, etc. process. Just a quick snap with my fancy phone gadget would do it. I may have sacrificed fine pixelation but at least I captured a happy, heart-singing moment. I think this meets the 80/20 rule, don’t you?
After 1 snowstorm, 2 literature classes, a surprise (and delicious!) lunch with the hubby, and some online catch-up, I’ve got the itch to immerse myself in some knitting. Remember that bath oil commercial with the slogan, “Calgon, take me away!”? That’s what making something with my fingers and imagination can do: gently sweep me off to another universe. My February Lady Sweater is washed, blocked, and ready for embellishment. I’m going to attempt to embroider the yoke, although I’m not sure how this will look, as the yoke is in garter stitch. But, if it doesn’t work, I can take the embroidery stitches out. And then there’s the question of chunky pearl cotton or my slap-dash assortment of wool for the embroidery. I may have to try both and see which one pairs best with the Spud & Chloe body.
One of my all-time favorite knitting/color/creative inspirational people is Kristin Nicholas. We’ve never met in person, but that hardly matters, does it? I’ve been reading her blog for years. That’s how I know that all I need to do is dive in, because I am sure that’s what Kristen would do. (Take a peek — I dare you not to fall in love with the kitties, dogs and sheep in her photos!)
So I’m off to play. I’ll let you know how the embroidery works out. Stay tuned for photos.
P.S. I have been seriously entertaining the dream of enrolling in one of Kristin’s weekend workshops on the farm. Aren’t the photos tempting?!

I’m bummed Kristin’s link didn’t work for me as her work sounds exciting! Good for you with the knitting thing. I’m perfectly dreadful at it, but admit it’s soothing. I miss teas as Antiquiteas as my monthly detox program. I’m in love with that bowl and kicking myself I didn’ pick up the one I found at Brimfield last year!
