- Look who was waiting for me in the garden this morning!
It’s back to school for me today. I’ve been accepted into an MFA program for literary writing that operates on what they call “the studio model”. This means that rather than attend weekly classes, each student studies and writes from home, corresponding by mail with one professor per semester. Twice a year there’s a gathering of students and faculty for presentations, workshops, and the next selection process for the professor-of-choice by each student. Today marks the first day of the nine-day residency, dorm assignments and all!
The visiting writer this year is Anne Fadiman. I loved her Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader and am about to dip into The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. Her vocabulary leaves me running for the dictionary.
So I’d better finish packing – and that includes my camera! I’ll be back online over the coming week when time allows. Cheers!
